Late Night Breakfast!

Hey Guys!

Since it's finals week, we decided to go to the Late Night Breakfast to kick off the end of the fall semester! The Late Night Breakfast is a Clarion tradition served by the faculty and staff. It is held the Sunday before finals week at 10 pm where students can come eat some good food and come together and have fun before studying for finals.

Students were able to wear their ugly sweaters, receive a free T-shirt, and could of had the chance to win prizes such as a TV, iPad, and a printer.

We want to encourage all students next time to the late night breakfast in the spring if they weren't able to come to this one.

We hope you enjoy the video and all students do great on their finals!

The Movie Theater!

Hey guys!

Since Kaela was sick, I decided that I wanted to show you all Clarion University's movie theater located on Suites on Main North. The movie theater opened when Suites on Main North open, which was in August, 2015. The theater includes a concession stand and a full 188 seat movie theater. Movies play from Thursday through Sunday and you can find the movie times on the Clarion University website.

The theater is free for students and you need to bring your student I.D. with you. It is also opened to the public. Over 60 movies are played during the fall and spring semesters. The movies are recently released and you can watch a movie that you recently missed at your local movie theater.

I hope you enjoy the video and hope you stop by the theater!

Donate A Meal

Hey Everyone!

In this blog, we wanted to talk to you about a very important event called Donate A Meal

Around this time of year, our thoughts turn to the upcoming holiday season and students were inspired to give back. Clarion students had the opportunity to join the Eagle Ambassadors and Chartwells Dining Services in their Donate a Meal campaign by providing meals to needy individuals/families in and around Clarion.
The students were encouraged to donate their November 18 board meal dinner to support this project.  The sign ups were held at the Eagle Commons Dining Hall on October 24th, 25th, 31st, and  November 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.
All the donations will be used to purchase turkeys that will be distributed by Clarion County Community Action to those in need.
Although this event has passed, we wanted to share this information to convince students who didn't participate to go out and donate their meal next year. This is a very special event helps our Clarion Community enjoy their holiday season because those in need deserve it the most.
Thank you for watching!

Clarion University VS. Slippery Rock Football Game

Hey everyone!

Welcome to Clarion University's football game! This past weekend, Clarion competed against their biggest rival: Slippery Rock University. The game was taken place at our home field at 12 p.m. on October 29th, 2016.

During the game, we captured moments of the fans, cheerleaders, dancers, band members, and of course our football players.

To recap how the game went, it was a close throughout the entire game. Slippery rock would take the lead in each quarter, then Clarion would fight back and tie or take the lead. During the 4th quarter, with slippery rock up by 2, Clarion had their chance to score with just minutes left on the clock. Kevin Genevro finished the game with the go-ahead touchdown with only 1:05 left, and the Clarion defense stood tall to take the win with a score of 27-23.  With this victory, the Golden Eagles claimed the Milk Jug trophy in the sixth edition of the rivalry game with Slippery Rock.

We hope you enjoy! :)

Big Pink Event!

Hey guys!

So this week we decided to go to a kick off event for Relay for Life called the Big Pink Event. This was held on October 19th, 2016 in the Gemmell Rotunda from 5-7 pm. This event aims to raise awareness for Breast Cancer early detection/screening. You get to meet the committee, learn more about what Relay for Life is, and find out how to join in the fight against cancer.  Event participants can register for the spring 2016 Relay event this night only for a discounted cost of $5.

Students were able to come play fun games & hangout! For example, we were able to play a game called Fact or Myth; this game is a Q/A about cancer and if you get the question right, you win a prize! We also talked to some of the students who helped out with the event, and got to learn more about breast cancer. Since October is breast cancer awareness month, this was a great event to help get involved on campus and learn more about this find a cure.

We hope you all enjoy the video and hopefully try to go to this event next year!

Miss CU Pageant!

Hey guys!

We decided to show you a special event that occurs every year here at Clarion University. We were able to watch seven beautiful girls perform in the Miss CU Pageant held in Gemmell's Multi Purpose Room. The contest was from 7-11 p.m. and all students and parents were able to get in for free.

The atmosphere looked amazing and the decorations were beautiful. As soon as the show started, each contestant showed off their business attire, talent, and answered Q/A's. Although we weren't able to stay for the entire show, we still had a great time cheering on the fabulous girls.

We just wanted to give you a little glimpse of how our night went, and we hope our video convinces you to try and go check out this special event next year!

We hope you enjoy! :)

Move In Day!

Hey Everyone! It's Gina and Kaela!

We wanted to welcome back all Clarion University students, and welcome all new incoming freshman to their first year of college.

We made this video to give incoming freshman some helpful tips and advice on how to make their move in day less stressful than it should be. We want to stress the fact that incoming students should NOT wait until the last minute to get what they need for their dorm room.  Make a list in advance for what supplies or products you need so you  can be organized and have everything ready for move in day.

We want our students, especially freshman, to enjoy the time they have left with their friends and family instead of stressing about what to get for their move in day. We want every student to feel at ease and have fun when it comes to living on their own for the first time.

We hope you have an amazing year! Do not be scared, you will have the best time of your life here at Clarion!

Senior Interviews

Hey everyone!

This is our last video of the semester and we wanted to interview a couple of seniors by asking them one simple question: "What advice would you offer to incoming freshman about college?"

We searched for different types of seniors to give us their honest opinions and suggestions on how to become a well-rounded student and be able to have a great time in college.

We were able to get to know the seniors and we had a fun time doing this project. Some seniors gave advice that was related to one another. A few gave short and simple answers while others gave much more. Each senior was able to give their own advice based on their own college experience.

We hope that many young students, especially incoming freshman, take their advice so they can prepare themselves for the new life ahead of them.

Advocacy Day!

Hey guys!

Welcome to Advocacy Day!

Advocacy Day is a day where 150 students, faculty, administrators, trustees and alumni from the 14 state universities are meeting to discuss the role the universities play in their respective campus, local and regional communities throughout Pennsylvania.

We were able to represent Clarion University along with 4 other students, President Karen Whitney, David Love, and 2 alumni representatives. This event was held on April 4th/5th in the Capitol in Harrisburg. We had the opportunity to meet with the House of Representatives and state Senate.

Throughout the 2 day event, we interviewed participants and met new people, especially other students from different universities. We were so lucky to have the opportunity to go to the Capitol and meet the state representatives. The Capitol building was absolutely breathtaking and all together was a great experience for us.

We hope you like the video!

The Rec Center!

Hi everyone!

We wanted to show you what you will experience by going to the Rec Center. The Rec is the perfect place to workout, with a very nice track and cardio system on the top floor and a weight room on the ground floor of the building.

If you aren't the person to workout, you can enjoy playing some games of basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, etc. If you also have a passion for rock climbing, then the Rec is the place for you!

The Rec Center is located near Gemmell and is open seven days a week! Students can sign up throughout the year to participate in fall or spring intramural sports such as, volleyball, basketball, hockey, racquetball, dodgeball, etc. There are many activities going on at the Rec Center and they truly are a lot of fun!

Since we were on our way to workout at the Rec, we were able to capture some of the moments of the Greek life volleyball tournaments, basketball games, and other students enjoying the cardio and weight room.

We hope you enjoy!

Student Admissions Day

Hello again!

We wanted to show you something that happens frequently here at Clarion University. Student Admissions Day is an event that occurs throughout the year. Students who have been accepted into the university come to visit the campus, take a tour, and talk to different professors in their field of study.

Student Admissions Day runs through the Admissions office and occurs in Gemmell.  The students and their families are taken on tours of campus academic buildings and student housing including Suites on Main and Campus View.

The students who work in the Admissions office give the tours, and are able to help guide the incoming students and their families around campus.

Since we work through Admissions, we were able to capture some of the moments of the event featuring faculty, incoming students & families to show you what it is like to experience Clarion University.

Wingo

Hey guys! Gina and Kaela here!

Clarion University strives to give its campus community a better social environment and students and faculty want to add more Friday and Saturday social events throughout the year. One of the new events recently introduced was Wingo night.

We had a great time at Wingo night and wanted to share our experience with you. What is Wingo you might ask? Well, it is a night where students can get together, play bingo, and eat some delicious wings

It was held in Gemmell food court from 8-11 p.m. on a Friday night and was offered by Student Senate. It was a very fun, sociable event where not only do you get to meet new people by playing bingo, you also get the chance to win all kinds of cool prizes including gift cards, goodie baskets, Keurigs, a TV, and more!

Wingo had a great turn out and hopefully produces an even bigger turn out next time.  After watching this video, maybe you will want to participate in Wingo. We hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching!

Let's Go to the Den!

Hello everyone! Welcome to our first post!

Our names are Gina and Kaela, and we are known as TwinsOnMain. We are students at Clarion University and our goal is to show young students what it is like to experience college as a freshman. You will be seeing us roaming the entire campus as we participate in different activities or events here at Clarion University. So since we live on Suites On Main, we decided to show you guys our favorite place to go right now, and that is The Den brought to you by Denny's!

In this video, we captured some footage of the entire environment. We are showing off how The Den is a comfortable place to sit with friends and enjoy a tasty meal. We present to you what it is like to do the simple stuff; such as, waiting in line to order, getting a drink, and hanging out with friends or meeting new people. We hope you enjoy watching our video and take the advantage to go visit The Den! We promise you will not regret it!
